Final film questionnaire analysis

After conducting the final questionnaire It was important to analyse the video for results.

I asked the interviewees the 5 questions:
What did you like?
What didn't you like/any improvements?
What certificate do you think it was?
where would you most likely see this kind of film?
who do you think it is aimed at?

Below shows some of our results we collected with conclusions about each question and what the overall final comment was.

Question one
Question one asked what the subjects liked about the film this included many responses such as:

"I liked the mysterious elements such as the masks and the use of red throughout the film" This suggests that the inclusion of the red masking was favourite and allowed us to portray important aspects of the film, This is suggested through the entirety of the final questionnaire, this is supported by the quote "I liked how the flower was, like colour and then I think it was her hair too, yeah I liked that".

There was also a love for the black and white aspect making it a unique feature within the film this is evidenced by the quote "I like that its in black and white and you have the little coloured accents in certain places, and I liked that its different"
Other quotes include:
"I felt it was very atmospheric and gave me good feelings", "I love it, I like the story line of it and the editing you guys did, Amazing" and "Well it got really creative the further on it went" This suggests that overall the many aspects were able to attract the audience and make them feel a pleasure from watching it

Overall this concluded that there were many elements of the film that people enjoyed, this links back to the uses and gratifications theory, suggesting that the audience watches films for a type of pleasure that they subconsciously crave and enjoy. This supports many of our intentions for aspects of the film too showing that the many elements we included were integral into the users experience with the film and without them there could have been confusion an a potential distaste to our product.

Question two
Question two asked the subjects What they didn't like about the film and what improvements they think could be improved upon it. We used this to see what critical perspectives were thought of our film and help us to evaluate ourselves and determine what we could do next time were we to do this project again. After asking the many subjects, we gained a few responses showing there were many reasons for the film to be improved including that of being " longer", We also received a few bits of feedback on the story with users suggesting that it was "a bit weird and ambiguous" suggesting that even for more mature audiences it was not their taste and could not be understood. Other quotes included that "the story line was good and understood, but at the ending i was a little bit confused, this could be different to what I thought" this however was not too much of a big deal as it was supposed to be open to interpretation and thus supporting Stuart halls idea of a negotiated response/view.

The quote, "maybe if there was some way to show that they were trapped rather than just being static" suggests that there could have been some higher skilled techniques we could have used, given time and patients to learn skills

We also had some views that suggested there wasn't anything to improve upon, these quotes are "I can't think of anything" and "There wasn't anything I particularly disliked"

Overall this feedback suggests that our film was received well but could have been touched up to make a more professional standard of film rather than that of a "student film", We feel that this has allowed us to gain an insight into how the audience felt the film was and how it participated compared to others within the course

Question three
Question three was more of a final clarification the films certificate, now that they had seen the final version of the film, did its certificate stay the same, this was done by asking the subjects "what certificate do you think this final film is?" this led to the main responses of "12 or 15", "probably a 15", "twelve", "12 or 15, or a 12 a" and "Probably a 12 anything younger than that would not be able to understand the concept of people disappearing, there's no violence or swearing like that so not anything higher than that"

These quotes show that the certificate given of the film, a 12, was received and portrayed well with elements suggesting potential higher classification but not too far out of the boundary. All subjects stated a certificate within the boundaries of the target audience and suggested that it was suitable for even younger audiences, this met the same debate our group had but overall showed that the audiences thoughts were to give it a 12.

Question four
Question four asked where this film would most likely be seen, this was in relation to the original questionnaire asking where the user would most likely see a story like this. It resulted in many similar ideas to us, such as online streaming and on specialist sites with quotes such as "Probably on a streaming site like amazon prime and Netflix", "YouTube" and "specialist, short film productions or independent film shows, its not a mainstream film" this also helps to support our decision of distributor allowing us to reach these independent showings and online  streaming services.
We also gained other views such as "Cinema", "within the cinemas, depending upon its popularity and producers" and "like before a film where the trailers are on with a short film"

Overall this suggested that or film was more suited to more independent and niche environments in which we were kind of going for, suggesting we have met our requirements well and provided a film that would suit these areas well

Question five
The final question asked the subjects who they thought the film was targeted toward, this resulted in the responses of "mystery or horror fans", "Teenagers" "maybe teenagers and young adults" and "maybe thirties and under" this suggests that or target audience is portrayed by the film and the many aspects of the film help to compliment this choice of idea.

Overall we feel that this was a successful collection of feedback showing our film has performed well and created an artistic view of filming whilst also allowing us to create our story to a high standard.
