Research of radio trailers and components of radio trailers.

Radio Trailers are an important factor within the marketing campaign of the film. They are used to advertise and promote the media product including dates, titles, actors and theatres in which the film will be distributed. They also play an important role in defining the genre of the film by how serious the voice over is and the contents included within the trailer such as music and sound. Below shows a video visualising these key components to clips of sounds from radio trailers.

First of all, all radio trailers need the inclusion of a voice over, this is used to address the audience and is the voice in which tells audiences information about the film such as dates and showings in which the film will be shown. it is important for this voice over to get the right tone of the film to ensure it does not contrast to that of the diegetic sounds from the film played within the sound clip. This voice over tends to contain many words such as "coming soon", "produced and directed by" and the famous "In a world" which tell the listener useful information about the film. The use of "coming soon" allows the listener to gain a feeling of "hype" and build up in which they will increase excitement of the films release. The use of "produced", "Directed by" or even "starring" allows for the use of star power to advertise the films and thus reaches more people/interest more people. Furthering this the use of  "In a world" allows for a setting of the film to be set, this furthers the advertising of the films genre and allows people to truly understand what the film is supposed to be about and start to wonder many themes.
This shows that within a trailer there are many words prevalent that are used to represent things and ensure they come across correctly across the audio plain. Below shows this use of voice to convey genre and themes, these suggest that the podcast is ground breaking and actin packed.

Another component of the radio trailer, is that of the sound which is drawn from the film, this tends to be a combination of both non diegetic and diegetic sounds from within the film. This is used to  draw an interest of the listener to the film and many aspects of it. This is important in ensuring that the listener to the radio trailer is able to distinguish what the genre of the film is and have a chance to listen to aspects of the film that may be compiled within a visual trailer that may entice and attract them to watching the film. Many common features of the film aspect include that of dialogue from within the film and the music that is used to invoke feelings that portray the films genre. This is important to portray to ensure that the target audience understand the genre and themes of the films to want to go watch it. Remember, the whole point of a radio trailer is to advertise and attract its listeners to the film, you have to use all assets available to ensure that you are making the film as amazing as it could be over the radio.

The final component is the overlay music this is a non diegetic sound in which is added after the main recording for the film aspect and the voice over, it is important that this proposes the genre of the film and suggests its themes. it is an important characteristic providing an overall feel for the entire campaign and allows the listener to assess whether or not the showing is suitable to them. Below shows how a quiet audio track in the background helps to portray and invoke feelings and themes through the trailer.
